“I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.” — Isaiah 44:22 (KJV)

If I’m being honest, there’s a whole lot of my life I’d do over if I could. Choices I made when I didn’t know the Lord the way I do now. Words I can’t take back. Roads I walked down that only led to heartache and regret. Maybe you know the feeling — that ache when you look back and think, “If only I’d known Jesus then like I know Him now.”
But here’s the beautiful thing about our God. He doesn’t leave us in the wreckage. He meets us right there in the middle of it.
Isaiah tells us that God blots out our transgressions like a thick cloud. Not part of them. All of them. The Lord says, “Return unto me, for I have redeemed thee.” That word “redeemed” means He bought us back — paid the price in full through His Son on that old rugged cross.
Some of us had to hit the bottom before we looked up. It was in the mess of everything we regretted that we found the mercy of the One who never stopped loving us. That’s grace.
Second Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” When you come to Jesus, He doesn’t patch up the old life. He makes you new.
Now, that doesn’t mean consequences just disappear. We still live with some of those. But the guilt doesn’t have to chain you anymore. The shame doesn’t get the final say. Jesus does.
If you’re sitting in the wreckage today, wondering if God could ever use someone like you — He can. The very place that broke you is the place He’ll use to show somebody else His mercy. Your testimony of redemption is somebody else’s lifeline.
Don’t let regret be the end of your story. Let mercy be the beginning of a brand-new chapter.
Prayer for today:
Heavenly Father, thank You for meeting me in my mess and never giving up on me. Forgive me for letting regret and shame speak louder than Your grace. Wash me clean, and use my story — even the hard parts — to bring somebody else to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
